Basket extrusion
The BR Basket Extruder is the lowest pressure extruder available on the market. Material enters by gravity and is wiped through perforated screens by extrusion blades. The gap between blade and screen is adjustable.
The basket extruders are not part of the family of screw extruders. These basket extruders have a vertical rotating shaft with 4 extrusion blades located inside a cylindrical screen. The basket extruders are fed through a hopper located above the cylindrical screen while rotating pressure blades assist the material flow into the extrusion zone.
Frontal extrusion
The EXDF Frontal Extruder has twin screws that transport material and pusch it to a frontal plate, allowing somewhat higher pressure thanthe other Fuji Paudal extruders. Normally used when particles larger than 2 mm are desired.
The frontal screw extruders use a flat screen, combined with two flat extrusion blades, to shape the granules. Two counter rotating screws feed the product to the extrusion die. The forces necessary to extrude the products are the highest, compared to other low pressure extruders.
This results in hard and dense granules. Temperature raises up to 75 °C, with hot spots up to 100 °C are not uncommon for this machine type. The minimum screen opening is 2.0 mm.
